Black McCuskey is pleased to announce that James D. Schweikert has joined the firm as a partner. He focuses his practice on matters of intellectual property rights and related litigation, and counseling and representing businesses on patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret and related matters.
James has over 12 years of experience in the intellectual property practice area, specifically in mechanical, electro-mechanical and electrical arts. He reviews and manages intellectual property portfolios for some of his clients; evaluating technology developments and implementing protection strategies, as well as development and review of non-disclosure, non-competition and joint-development agreements. James has extensive experience in patent preparation and prosecution. In addition, he has drafted and prosecuted numerous applications for the registration of trademarks and copyrights, including several mask works.
Committed to his community, James currently serves as Lakes District Chairman on the Boy Scouts of America, Great Trail Council; chairman of the Historic Preservations Commission, City of Green; member of the Advisory Board to the Program in Law and Technology for The University of Dayton; and a member/legal advisor for the Green Historical Society. His professional memberships include the Federal Bar Association, Cleveland Intellectual Property Law Association, American Institute of Physics and American Physical Society.
