Ryan is an associate with Black McCuskey and focuses his practice in the areas of business, litigation, real estate, and labor & employment law.
A cum laude graduate of the University of Akron School of Law, Ryan served as the Executive Treasurer and Acting President of the Akron Law Student Bar Association. Ryan also served as an Assistant Editor and Production Editor for the Akron Law Review. He received CALI Excellence Awards for the highest “A” in Legal Analysis, Research, and Writing, and Constitutional Law. During his time at Akron Law, Ryan made multiple appearances on the Dean’s List and worked closely with the Akron Law Administrative Staff and Career Services Office. In his third year, Ryan was the first inaugural recipient of the Russel M. Pry Endowed Memorial Scholarship, a scholarship honoring the beloved Summit County Executive, Russel M. Pry. To close out his time at Akron Law, Ryan was awarded the Alumni Association’s Outstanding Student Leader of the Year Award.
In addition to his general coursework at Akron Law, Ryan served as a Research Assistant for Professor Willa Gibson. While working for Professor Gibson, Ryan focused his research on Commercial and Constitutional law. He gained practical legal experience during his first and second year of law school by interning for the national jewelry retailer, Signet Jewelers. At Signet Jewelers Ryan worked extensively in the fields of contract drafting and review, corporate compliance, and commercial-real-estate lease negotiation. Following his time at Signet Jewelers, Ryan worked as a summer associate for Black McCuskey as part of the firm’s Summer Associate Program.
Prior to attending the University of Akron School of Law, Ryan obtained his bachelor’s degree in economics at the University of Akron. He graduated cum laude and completed the University of Akron Honors Program. In his undergraduate career, Ryan gained practical experience interning for the Summit County Prosecutor’s Office and the Finance and Budgeting Department of the Summit County Executive’s Office. He also served as a mentor and tutor in the DreamAKRON program which assisted students from Kenmore High School.
Ryan is a Summit County native and resides in Green, Ohio. He looks forward to actively participating in the Summit and Stark County Bar Associations and making a commitment to the community.
