Remembering Attorney Robert J. Murphy

We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our friend and partner, Attorney Robert J. Murphy, on September 17, 2019.

Robert was an outstanding lawyer, a leader in our community and a devoted husband and father. He was a respected partner and dear friend to all of us at Black McCuskey.  Our community has lost a bright, dedicated, compassionate and accomplished young man. Robert made innumerous contributions to the leadership of the firm and we have been fortunate to know and work with him.  He was an example to us all in how he lived his life, and in how he faced his illness with strength, character and faith.

Robert was a graduate of Case Western Reserve University School of Law and he joined the firm in 2004. He was dedicated to the firm and clients.  His drive and passion transcended his practice and extended into the community as he served on many boards and committees.

Given all his professional success, his greatest passion was his love for his wife Rachel and for his four boys: Simon, Anderson, Bennett and Theodore.  We mourn the loss of Robert alongside them and take comfort that his memory will live on in the hearts of everyone who knew him.  No words can express the loss we are feeling because Robert will be missed in so many ways.  He will always be a member of the Black McCuskey family.
